Research Focus

My research is focused on multifaceted topics at the interface between social, clinical and biological psychology. Aiming at a better understanding of healthy and psychopathological phenomena, I am especially interested in:

  • Social cognitive processes in person and face perception (e.g., in social anxiety disorder),
  • learning and extinction of fear and anxiety (e.g., anticipation of threatening and stressful events),
  • body perception (e.g., neural correlates of body image and body dissatisfaction),
  • and motivated attention (e.g., impact of emotion and motivation on attention).

To this end, I use a broad spectrum of methods from the neuro- and social sciences (e.g., event-related potentials, peripheral measures, eye-tracking, reaction times, internet-based surveys, and rating studies). Furthermore, I am glad to offer and supervise final theses in these areas of research.
